Jr. high youth gatherings are starting up again!
We still want to be very safe, so here is what to expect when you arrive. We will be asking parents to make a loop around the back of the church, meaning that you drive past the front of the church and pull in to our driveway after you pass the playground. We are meeting under the big tent in front of the church building. Once you have made it to our check-in station, and dropped off your student, we will have a volunteer there to take your temperature. Please wait as we quickly confirm that they do not have a fever.
Someone will check them in like we always have, and they will be able to take a seat (all seating will be socially distanced). Masks will be required (unless eating or drinking), we will have additional masks if someone forgets to bring one.
Pick-up time is 7:30. Please try to be on time.
Possible questions:
Why Now? On July 19 outdoor gathering restrictions got to a manageable level for Santa Clara, so we thought we'd give it a try for youth, and with the tent up, and school starting it seemed the 10th was the best start day.
Why Mondays? Stan (the youth pastor (the guy writing this email)) has been doing a big part of our online content for SVCC, which includes recording and editing many evenings and days throughout the week. Monday worked best for his schedule.
Why every other week? This has mostly to do with the safety of students and families for Covid. If we have met and learned that anyone had Covid at any of our meetings, we will have had 14 days between meetings, which is the recommended self quarantine time.
Why not the rest of church? Youth ministries is a much smaller gathering than our Sunday mornings, and every other ministry will have to look into when is best for them to open during this time.
